On August 2nd, 2015, the 2015-16 season FA Community Shield began at Wembley Stadium. Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 and won the Community Shield for the 14th time. On November 21st, 2015, Arsenal played against West Bromwich Albion in an away game, and in the 28th minute of the game, Özil assisted Giroud with a free kick to score. This assist made Özil the first player that has made assists in seven consecutive rounds in the Premier League. Throughout the 2015-16 Premier League season, Özil made 19 assists and was nicknamed “the Assist King”.
On December 25th, 2016, the British Guardian announced the top 100 players of 2016, and Özil ranked 23rd. On May 27th, 2017, the 2016-17 UEFA Cup final was held at Wembley Stadium. Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 and won the UEFA Cup for the 13th time.
